Hello and welcome to my Proctor Silex Plus 76370P Extra-Tall Can Opener review page.

I have done some research on this 76370P Extra-Tall Can Opener and it’s actually a Hamilton Beach Product.  The Proctor Silex brand is owned by Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. The reason for this branding change beats me. There must be some marketing reason behind this but that’s not what this review is about so lets put branding aside and look at the can opener itself.

 

Pros of the Proctor Silex Plus 76370P Extra-Tall Can Opener

Extra tall height fits different size cans.

Magnetic lid holder to keep lid from falling back into can after opening.

Removable cutting lever for quick and easy cleaning.

Manual knife sharpener located at back of can opener.

It locks down until a can is completely open and not really something that everyone is looking forward to. Some like to leave a little on so that it’s easier to drain fluids from some cans.

Cons of the Proctor Silex Plus 76370P Extra-Tall Can Opener

  • Power cord is about 2 feet. Not the longest so you better think about where you are going to place it before your purchase.
  • Not the smoothest cut, a little rough round the edges. Have to watch very large cans because it can tilt since it’s not the heaviest electric can opener around and can be caught off balance.
  • Probably need some kind of rubber grip at the bottom to prevent it from slipping too.
  • Not the type for one handed operation though so don’t expect too much.

 

Is the Proctor Silex Plus 76370P Extra-Tall Can Opener A Good Buy?

The most attractive about this 76370P is the pricing. Cheap and good, perform its basic task of opening standard size cans well. However, larger cans can be a challenge. You have to hold the can to support it or you may end up with big mess because of a dropped can.

There were some complaints about it not lasting that long and breaking down but as with every other product, that about sums up how things are made nowadays. They don’t last as long as they used to.
