West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener Review

Is The West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener A Good Buy?

The West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener is a popular electric can opener in use today by many people who loves it and also has it fair share of criticisms from those who don’t like it. I always believe there’s some truth and half truth from users who gave their views and there are always some who may have gotten a lemon during their purchase.

1. The West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener is a 70-Watt counter-top can opener with a knife sharpener (non-electric) and bottle opener at the back of the unit.

What’s Good About The West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener.

  • It’s a tall and nice looking can opener with ability to engage the can without you having to hold the can itself and a magnet to hold the can lid after opening.

  • It also cuts power off automatically after it has completed its job.

  • The blade section is easily removed and can be washed thoroughly thus keeping the blade clean.

The Not So Good Of The West Bend 77203 Electric Can Opener.

  • Mainly made of plastic and some users were surprised to find a made in China product when they opened the box. There aren’t many stuff that is not made in China nowadays so what else is new?
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a made in China label as long as they are of good quality. It all boils down to quality control.

  • There seems to be a problem with some type of cans where the paper labeling on the cans interfere with the opening of the lid. Shredding the paper and the paper could also be the culprit where some users complained that cans were not held by the opener and having to support the can while it’s being opened.  If that is going to be the problem, small inconvenience, remove the paper first.

  • The biggest concern however would be the plastic lever that operates the motor. You have to push it down to work the motor to cut the lid of the can. It’s made of plastic and some users have this concern that it will break easily. And once broken, it will render the can opener useless.
