TV In The Kitchen

A TV in the kitchen has become a common site today in many household because of its rising popularity with many people cooking along with their favorite cooking shows which can improve their cooking skills and produce the latest dishes.

Unlike kitchen TV from the past, the kitchen TVs nowadays are small. They come loaded with features including radio, clock/timer and DVD players for some models, easily setup to fit onto the wall or under the cabinet.

However before you rush to buy a TV for your kitchen, there are some important things that you have to take note of it’s Location!
Unlike the TV that you put in your living room, the kitchen TV is installed in a different environment where heat, steam, spills and such are common.

Please take a good look at your kitchen layout before deciding on your TV, taking into consideration your kitchen layout, space between cabinet and counter top, heat from oven or stove, any taps nearby? And don’t forget the location of your power source too because you will need to plug your TV in. Don’t rush it, taking some time to pick a good spot to put your TV to ensure trouble free easy viewing is certainly worth it.

Kitchen TV Categories

With the above in mind, you can then consider the type of TV that you want. They come in 3 general categories, under cabinet, counter top and wall mounted.

  • Counter Top TV is the easiest of the 3 when it comes to installation but will be taking up work space that could be used for something else.

  • Wall Mounted TV will also require some amount of work to mount it. Power outlet location and cable layout has to be taken into consideration since I am sure you want to keep it neat and tidy.

  • Under Cabinet TV is by far the favorite because it is mounted under cabinet and work space below is clear.

The screen of these TVs can be swung up when not in use keeping it away from harms way. But do take note of the space required and make sure you actually do have enough space to install it and has the necessary power point.

Most under cabinet TV also have a swivel screen so you should be able to swing it to achieve your optimal viewing angle.
